Luke 19:28-40    Jesus, You Must have Known

Jesus, you knew, didn’t you.  You knew that if you staged an entrance like this you were sealing your fate.  The nails were ready to be driven.  You were accepting the role of the suffering servant in Isaiah, the one whose beard would be pulled out, whose stripes from the whip would save us.  You knew what was coming, but did you really know how painful and ugly it would be for you?  Did you just plunge ahead because you trusted your Father’s plan?

O Jesus, brave, bloody king, forgive me for ever failing to go where you call me, to any risk, any danger, and fearful place or person.  So help me to follow you there.
