My comments on almost anything I recommend, books, movies, whatever shows up in media.

This new book just released -We Hope for Better Things - by Erin Bartels is a moving story about race, love, and history including the 1967 Detroit riots plus episodes from the time of the Civil War all nicely woven together.  I got an advance edition of it at a writers' conference last fall, and liked every bit of it.

Just came home from seeing the movie - The Upside -which is both serious and funny. A great true story about a paraplegic and his African American personal aid.   Check it out,
