Luke 7:1-10        The Amazing Centurion

Mr. Centurion, it must have felt good to have the local Jews go to bat for you to ask for Jesus’ help.  Did you know they were going to say, “This man deserves to have you do this” to have Jesus heal your sick servant?   You built their synagogue!  You must be a very humble man.  I can admire you.  In spite of being an officer in the Roman army you honor the God of Israel, you ask for the assistance of the synagogue leaders, and you want the wandering healer, Jesus, to come to save your servant.  Yes, you are an amazing man.  When Jesus heard how you explained your request,“You don’t even need to come to my house, just say the word,” Jesus himself was amazed!

Lord Jesus, you admire humility.  You appreciated this man’s humility.  You demonstrate humility and grace.  Please give me grace to always show respect and humility before those who are high and the low of this world as well.  At your feet we are all just needy children.
