Luke 20:45-47    Beware Those Who Want the Best Seats

         OK you lawyers and leaders, Jesus knows your wickedness.  You like recognition and reputation.  You head for the best seats in the house, sitting up front because you are so smart and powerful, but corrupt in how you treat poor people.

         Yes, Lord, I confess that I too yearn for recognition.  I enjoyed wearing the robe of a professor and sitting with the faculty at commencement that one year.  I yearn to be known as a writer, a teacher, a thinker, an intellectual, a good pastor.  You have shown me that my best satisfaction comes from caring for people in trouble and just being my honest self.  Thank you for setting the pace.
