However, anyone ought to feel free to enhance this outline with music and other readings or prayers.  You do not need any special cup or plate.  Use what you have. A Brief Service
for Communion at Home

Opening Prayer:    Our Father, we ask for your Holy Spirit to guide us today as we gather in your name to share in the Lord’s Supper, and honor our Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Be with us now, for in his name we pray.  AMEN

Reading from the Gospel of Luke 22:14–20 (TNIV)

When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”

Invitation:
Following what the Lord Jesus said, we know that when we share in the Lord’s Supper, we are doing what he asked us to do.
We come to remember him, knowing Jesus was  sent by God the Father to redeem us from sin and to give us new life through his death on the cross. Second,  this is Communion, as we celebrate our relationship with Christ, and he promises to be  with us always, to the end of world.
Third, We come with hope, since he promises that he will share this cup again with us in the Kingdom to come, when we are united with him in his Heavenly Kingdom.

Communion Prayer
Gracious God, send your Holy Spirit upon us, we pray, that the bread which we break and the cup which we bless may be to us the communion of the body and blood of Christ. Empower us to live in you and serve your kingdom. joined together in Christ, until at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.  Even so, come, Lord Jesus.    Amen.

Sharing of the Bread and the Cup
(Take the wafer and the juice at this point)

A Closing Prayer
Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name!   Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,  who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy.
Lord, we praise and thank you that you have fed us at your table, and we pray that out of your glorious richness and power you would strengthen us through your holy spirit in our inner being, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith and we will be faithful servants of yours until the end.
                                                 Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
